Working with me
Flexible CFO support, shaped around your business.
Every business is at a different stage, so I start by understanding what you need, then agree an approach that fits your priorities, pace and budget, and adjust it as things change.
That might be ongoing support each month, a defined project with a clear outcome, or a mix of both. The options below are examples of how we could work together, not rigid choices.
Ongoing support: examples of how we could work together
Guidance
Clarity
- Best for
- Early-stage founders who want clarity and confidence before they need hands-on CFO time
- Time
- A 90–120 minute workshop each month, plus email support
- What's included
- A light review of your numbers and KPIs; a deep-dive workshop on performance and key decisions; agreed actions after each session
Hands-on delivery
Performance
- Best for
- Scaling businesses facing more complexity, or needing a CFO to keep plans on track
- Time
- 4–8 days a month, plus regular strategy sessions
- What's included
- Forecasting, reporting, margins and pricing; decision support for the leadership team; investor-ready reporting and models
Embedded CFO
Leadership
- Best for
- High-growth or investor-backed businesses that need a CFO partner, not just extra support
- Time
- Ongoing, with priority access
- What's included
- Everything in Performance, plus leadership and board meetings, board packs and investor updates, capital planning, fundraising preparation and support, pricing resets, commercial negotiations and priority phone and WhatsApp access
Most engagements start in one of these places and flex from there. You might start with a monthly workshop, step up to hands-on support ahead of a raise, then step back down once things settle. You can also mix elements across the levels.
Project-based support
When you need a specific outcome rather than ongoing support, I can take on a defined project with a clear scope, timeline and fixed fee. Projects often lead into ongoing support, but they don't have to.
Typical projects
- Fundraising readiness: financial model, cap table and investor data room
- Pricing and margin review
- Finance health check and priorities report
- Cash flow forecast and rolling 12–18 month forecast
- Turnaround diagnostic and recovery plan
- Board reporting pack and monthly reporting set-up
How pricing works. Ongoing support starts from £975 a month, and projects are quoted at a fixed fee. After a first conversation and a short discovery, I'll recommend an approach and confirm a fixed fee: monthly for ongoing support, or a fixed project fee for defined work. It's based on what you need and how involved you'd like me to be. No hourly billing, no surprises, and the scope can change as your business does.
Your first 30 days
Establish the truth before building the plan.
- Week 1Understand
Meet you and your key people. Review the model, reporting, cash position and commercial data. Identify the decisions, risks and immediate pressures.
- Week 2Establish the truth
Check revenue, margins, cash runway and forecast assumptions, and resolve conflicting numbers.
- Weeks 3–4Prioritise
Present a concise financial diagnostic, agree actions, owners and timings, and set a regular reporting and decision rhythm.
What you get: a clear view of your financial position, your immediate priorities and the level of CFO support you need. If cash, fundraising or performance needs urgent attention, I work with you to prioritise it and accelerate where necessary.
Common questions
Do I need a CFO yet?
Probably sooner than you think. Founders usually bring me in when they're preparing to raise or have just raised, when growth is outpacing their visibility of cash and margins, or when they've outgrown what their bookkeeper and accountant can provide. If any of the situations on the home page sound familiar, it's worth a conversation. The need for CFO thinking arrives well before you could justify a full-time hire.
How is this different from my accountant?
Your accountant handles compliance, tax and statutory accounts, recording what has happened. I help you use the numbers to decide what happens next. I work alongside your accountant, not instead of them.
Will you replace my bookkeeper or finance team?
No. I strengthen the team you have. I train and coach your bookkeeper and finance team so they can run the new processes, reporting and forecasts themselves, which means you aren't dependent on me. I can lead finance until you're ready for a permanent CFO, then step back once your team is ready to take over.
Can you help us raise investment?
Yes. I help you get investor-ready: the model, data room, investor story and rehearsal for tough questions. As your CFO, I then support you through due diligence and the terms you're offered. I don't act as a broker or introduce investors for a fee. If you need a corporate finance adviser to run the raise, I'll work alongside them.
How much does it cost?
Ongoing support starts from £975 a month for a monthly workshop and email support. Hands-on and embedded support, and projects, are priced on scope after a short discovery, with a fixed fee agreed upfront.
How many clients do you work with?
A small number at a time, so each founder gets proper attention and I can respond quickly when something urgent comes up.
What if our needs change?
You can move between levels as the business changes, for example stepping up for a fundraise and back down afterwards.
Do you work remotely?
Mostly, yes, which keeps costs down and means I can respond quickly. I'm also happy to be on site whenever it's needed or you'd like me there, such as for leadership and board meetings, the first weeks of an engagement or regular days with your team. I'm Cheshire-based and work with businesses across the UK, including London and Manchester.
Not sure which level fits?
Book a free conversation and I'll recommend the right one, even if it's the smallest.
